CANNABIS CATASTROPHIC FOR TEENAGE BRAINS
The adolescent brain is particularly vulnerable to the effects of cannabis, Australian and New Zealand research shows. Teenagers who regularly use the drug are more likely than non-users to under achieve academically, suffer significant mental health problems and use illicit drugs later in life. The Lancet study of several thousand adolescents show that those who smoke cannabis daily are over 60% less likely to complete high school or obtain a degree, seven times more likely to attempt suicide and are eight times as likely to use other illicit drugs in later life. Significantly, the research shows there is NO safe level of cannabis use in adolescents.
